Project name *:
Collaborative Teaching of an Online Course in Global Leadership
Faculty from Appalachian’s Department of Leadership and Educational Studies (LES) will form a team with faculty from Novgorod State University’s (NovSU) Department of Vocational Pedagogical Education and Social Management to explore possible projects of mutual benefit to our universities such as those specifically targeting global leadership in education.
Appalachian will host a meeting on campus with a representative from NovSU to begin the development of a linkage project proposal. The project under consideration is the development of an online graduate course for educational leaders co-taught by faculty from Appalachian and NovSU, which will enroll students from both universities. The collaborative nature of this course and the enrolment of students from both universities will allow a greater degree of interaction among our students thus encouraging a deeper global understanding. Faculty and staff of Appalachian will contribute to the development of this project through their technological and online pedagogical experience in delivering graduate programs online for almost a decade. With NovSU, we will find a suitable platform and pedagogical approach that will provide a model for additional such collaborations between our universities. The representative of NovSU will be given the opportunity to explore additional areas for collaboration that will sustain a viable partnership between the two institutions.

We have applied for a Quality Enhancement Program grant (internal university grant opportunity) for $6100 for another phase of this program.
